WOSD centres can have 2 different types of qualifications: a Dive Centre or a Training Centre.
To gain the status of WOSD dive centre, the WOSD centre must:
Have paid the required contribution in full;
Be able to show evidence of a professional registration/recognition from the local government;
Have a professional image and appearance;
Have regular opening hours;
Be relatively active in the sale of WOSD dive courses and associated materials;
Have a varied selection of scuba diving equipment for hire, which meets the WOSD guidelines;
Have a facility for filling scuba cylinders;
Have a suitable classroom within an acceptable distance from the dive centre;
Have a swimming pool or confined water and an open water location that meets the WOSD training requirements, within an acceptable distance from the dive centre;
Employ at least one WOSD instructor in active status.
To gain the status of WOSD Training centre, the centre must:
Have paid the required contribution in full;
Be able to show evidence of a professional registration/recognition from the local government;
Have a professional image and appearance;
Have regular opening hours;
Be relatively active in the sale of WOSD dive courses and associated materials;
Have a varied selection of scuba diving equipment for hire, which meets the WOSD guidelines;
Have a facility for filling scuba cylinders;
House an area where a certified specialist can service and repair dive equipment;
House a fully equipped classroom;
Have a swimming pool or confined water and an open water location that meets the WOSD training requirements, within an acceptable distance from the training centre;
Employ at least one WOSD Staff Instructor in active status;
After gaining the status of WOSD Training Centre, organise at least one associate (dive) course per calendar year.
