Logo STAFFThe WOSD Staff Instructor course is the first step from training divers, to training Dive Instructors.

A WOSD Staff Instructor may assist an Instructor Trainer during instructor training courses. In addition, he or she may, under supervision of a WOSD Instructor Trainer, train a Level 1 Instructor.

Pre-requisites:
• Minimum 21 years of age;
• Competent swimmer;
• Medical Statement approved by a physician (no more than one year old);
• Signed Certificate of Understanding;
• Have held the 'WOSD Instructor Level 2' certification for at least one year;
• Have certified at least 50 trainees at WOSD basic and WOSD speciality levels;
• Be certified as WOSD/DAN 'Basic Life Support Instructor' or equivalent;
• Be certified as WOSD/DAN 'Oxygen Provider Instructor' or equivalent;
• Have conducted at least two full 'WOSD instructor Level 2' courses as a trainee 'Staff Instructor'.

Authorized to:
• Carry out non-decompression dives with Scuba equipment;
• Dive to a maximum depth of 40 metres;
• Train and certify trainees for all WOSD primary courses;
• Train and certify trainees for all WOSD recreational speciality courses for which the Staff Instructor is certified at Instructor level;
• Train and certify trainees for all WOSD technical speciality courses for which the Staff Instructor is certified at Instructor level;
• Train and certify trainees for all WOSD/DAN speciality courses for which the Staff Instructor is certified at Instructor level;
• Train and certify trainees for all WOSD/IAHD speciality courses for which the Staff Instructor is certified at Instructor level;
If a 'Staff Instructor' is supervised and authorised by a WOSD 'Instructor Trainer':
• Train a WOSD 'Instructor Level 1'.
